MSDNAA Software
MSDNAA stands for Microsoft Development Network Academic Alliance. It is a software
agreement between the CSE Dept. and Microsoft that allows us to distribute many
popular Microsoft titles free of charge to eligible Faculty, Staff, and Students.
- Which Software Titles Do You Carry? - We carry many popular Microsoft titles. Some of the most popular titles include Visual Studio .NET 2003, Microsoft Windows XP Pro, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Project, SQL Server, and Exchange Server.
- Does MSDNAA Include Microsoft Office? - No, MSDNAA does not include Microsoft Office. If you would like to purchase MS Office, you can purchase the Buckeye Bundle from the OSU bookstore at 2009 Milliken Road. More information about the bundle can be found at http://buckeyebundle.osu.edu/index.html.
- Who Is Eligible? - CSE Faculty, CSE Staff, and CSE Major Students ONLY are eligible. If you are in one of these groups, you should receive an e-mail from e-academy with your login information for the website where you reserve the software for checkout.
- How Do I Get The Software? - First, you need to reserve the software online. The web address is https://msdn04.e-academy.com/ohio-state_cis. You will need your username and password that were supplied in the e-mail from e-academy to login to the web site. Once you are logged in, you will see a storefront with box-shots of the software we offer. Simply click on the software you want and follow the prompts to reserve the software. After the software is reserved, you will have 24 hours to pick it up from the Help Desk in Dreese 895. If you do not pick it up within 24 hours, your reservation will be cancelled, and you will need to reserve the software again. After you pick up the software, you will have 3 days to install it and return the CD's to the Help Desk. You may NOT keep the CDs. If you fail to return the CDs, you will lose access to the MSDNAA system.
- Installation Restrictions - MSDNAA software may only be installed on your
home PC or a research machine (if you are a CSE researcher). This software may not
be installed on instructional equipment. If you are unsure if you are able to
install this software on your PC, please contact the Help Desk and we will try to
figure it out.
Copying the MSDNAA CD's is also forbidden by the license agreement. - Forgot Password - If you have forgotten your password, or deleted the e-mail from e-academy with your login information, you can have your login information sent to your CSE e-mail account by clicking on the "forgot password" link on the e-academy website. After you click that link, you will be asked for your username. Enter your CSE e-mail address in this field and it will send you an e-mail with your login information. If you still have difficulties logging in, please contact the Help Desk at 292-6542.
