Minor in Computer Science
Students who plan to major in another area but have a strong interest in computing may want to consider doing a minor in Computer and Information Science.
A student minoring in CIS may follow one of the following two tracks. Courses applied to the minor may not be applied toward the student's major.
- Programming and Algorithms Track:
- Required Courses
- CSE 221, 222, 321, 360;
Math 366. - Elective Courses (choose two)
- CSE 541, 560, 625, 655, 660, 670, 675.01 or 675.02, 680.
- Information Systems Track:
- Required Courses
- CSE 201, 214, 314, 360, 670;
Math 366. - Elective Courses (choose one)
- CSE 560, 616, 671.
Students pursuing a minor do not get permanent computer accounts on the departmental machines, nor do they get priority scheduling into the M sections of CSE courses.
