Transfer Students
- OSU Students Currently Pursuing Other Majors:
OSU students who are currently pursuing other (undergraduate) majors
and are interested in transferring to one of the majors in the
department are required to follow the same procedures, and meet
the same conditions for admission to the major, as students who
are not currently in any other major. In particular, these students
must take the pre-requisite courses and meet the applicable GPA
requirement before applying for admission to one of the majors;
please consult the earlier sections of this brochure for information
on these requirements. Note in particular that the GPA that is used
to determine whether the student meets the current GPA requirement
will be over all the courses taken at OSU.
Students who are currently in a graduate program in another major at OSU cannot simultaneously pursue an undergraduate degree in the department. If you are a graduate student and interested in computing, please consult the brochure on Graduate Study for possible options that may be available to you.
- Students Considering Transferring to OSU:
Students who are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in another
university and interested in transferring to OSU to pursue one of
the majors in the department have to be first admitted to OSU.
If you are such a student, you should contact the
Ohio State University Admissions Office
for information on how to apply for admission to the university.
In other words, if you are currently a student at some other university
and wish to transfer to the Ohio State University, you must
first go
through the Admissions Office and be admitted to the university.
The CSE department is not
directly involved with admitting students to Ohio State.
You should also read the earlier sections of this brochure that describe the various majors and the requirements for admission to major status. Please note that admission to OSU does not guarantee that you will be admitted to a major program in the department. Instead, if you are admitted to OSU, you will be admitted as a pre-major (for example, pre-CIS or pre-CSE). Once you meet all the requirements for admission to the major, including the applicable GPA requirement, you may apply for admission to the major. The GPA that will be used for this purpose will only be over courses taken at OSU, not the GPA from your previous school; you must take a minimum of 25 credit hours of letter graded courses at OSU before you can apply for admission to a CSE/CIS major.
