CSE Funds

CSE funds available for contribution:

The Department's Discretionary Fund - Support the Alumni Homecoming Lecture Series, lecture hall and lab renovations, research initiatives and student support as directed by the department chairperson to support the educational mission of the department.

Steve R. and Sarah O'Donnell Computer and Information Science Fund - Established June 5, 1987, by the O'Donnells. Your donation will help support research, teaching and service programs/facilities in the Department.

Leggett Family Fund - Established June 5, 1998, through The Foundation by Ernest W. and Esther Leggett, Mary Lohmeyer Leggett and members of the Leggett, McDonald, Burris, McNamee, and Ware families. Income supports the Ernest William Leggett, Jr. Scholarship by providing scholarships to third and fourth year undergraduates who are residents of Ohio, enrolled in Computer Science and Engineering, and carry a GPA of 3.0 or above.

O'Connell Family Scholarship/Awards Endowment Fund - Established April 6, 2001, by Christina M. and Conleth S. O'Connell Jr. through The Foundation. A portion of income shall be used to fund one undergraduate scholarship for a deserving engineering undergraduate majoring in either Computer and Information Science or Computer Science and Engineering. A second portion of the earnings will support annual awards for outstanding teaching, research and service by Computer Science and Engineering faculty, students and staff.

O'Connell Family Staff Development Endowment Fund - Established April 6, 2001, by Christina M. and Conleth S. O'Connell Jr. through The Foundation. Income benefits staff development in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

Eleanor Quinlan Memorial Fund - Established June 1, 2001, by friends, former students and colleagues through The Foundation. Income is used for development and recognition of outstanding graduate teaching associates in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

Mike Liu Graduate Scholarship Fund - Established November 1, 2008, by the department, former Ph.D. graduates, friends, colleagues through The Foundation to celebrate Professor Mike Liu's 40 year service to CSE, and his contributions to Ohio State and to the fields of distributed and networking. Income is used to annually award one or more Ph.D. students for the excellence of academic and research activities.

B. Chandrasekaran and Sandra Mamrak Fellowship Fund - The B. Chandrasekaran and Sandra Mamrak Fellowship Fund was established March 1, 2009 by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, former students and friends of the department, with a considerable gift from Professor B. Chandrasekaran and his wife Professor Sandra Mamrak to honor their distinguished service to The Ohio State University and contributions to the fields of Artificial Intelligence and computer systems.

The Dr. Wael-Hilal M. Bahaa-El-Din Scholarship Fund on Applied Systems Performance - Established August 29, 2014, with a gift from Dr. Wael-Hilal M. Bahaa-El-Din [PhD 1984]; used to support one or more renewable scholarships for students enrolled in the College of Engineering majoring in either computer science engineering or computer and information science, with preference for candidates who have expressed an interest in applied performance research that helps the real world and industry.

Steve Lai Scholarship Fund - Established August 28, 2015, with gifts from Jen-Lung Chu and Li-Fen Wu, friends, family, and colleagues in honor of Professor Steve Lai's service to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in the College of Engineering and in recognition of his contributions to the fields of security and networking; used to provide one or more scholarships for graduate or undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Engineering, majoring in computer science and engineering who demonstrate academic excellence.

The annual distribution from this fund shall award students at both graduate and undergraduate levels in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Qualified candidates must be of the highest academic and research merit and deemed laudable for this prestigious award. Recipients shall be selected by a faculty committee and the Chair of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

Founders of the Computer Science and Engineering Department Scholarship Endowment Fund - Established in 2011, The Founders Fund was established to accomplish two primary goals. First to provide an endowed scholarship fund that allows the department to award academic scholarships to undergraduate students based on achievement or undergraduate research achievement. A Selection Committee from former graduates of the undergraduate programs will participate in the selection of the awardees. Second to provide a Recognition Award that would be available to a current or former faculty member, adjunct appointee, lecturer, or an OSU administrator (active or retired, alive or deceased) that have made a major contribution to the development and growth of the department.
