Bitcoin Protocol Basics

This talk will introduce basic ideas behind bitcoin, an online currency. We will start by discussing basic cryptographic ideas such as digital signatures and hash functions. We will continue by describing common challenges in digital currency design and how bitcoin solves them. No prior math/cryptography knowledge is necessary.

Bio: Anton Bobkov, Mathematics PhD and Physics BA from UCLA. Currently a faculty member at Ripon College in Wisconsin. Research interests include mathematical logic, model theory, formal methods, gerrymandering.
