Biography: Dr. Swanier is Department Chair and Henry N. and Alice Carson Tisdale Endowed Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at Claflin University. She conducts research in Human Computer Interaction with an emphasis in visual programming and educational gaming. She was a Visiting Research Scientist at Google and recipient of the Google igniteCS Award.
In 2013, she received the Champion of Change for Tech Inclusion Award given by the White House. She has also been recognized as a “Power 100” influential African American by Ebony Magazine.
